CXSD61038 is a synchronous buck regulator IC that integrates the PWM/PFM control, topYaq嘉泰姆
and bottom switches on the same die to minimize the switching transition loss andYaq嘉泰姆
conduction loss. With ultra low RDS(ON) power switches and proprietary PWM control,Yaq嘉泰姆
this regulator IC can achieve the highest efficiency and the highest switch frequencyYaq嘉泰姆
simultaneously to minimize the external inductor and capacitor size, and thusYaq嘉泰姆
achieving the minimum solution footprint.The CXSD61038 requires only three externalYaq嘉泰姆
power components (Cin, Cout and L). Theadjustable version can be programmedYaq嘉泰姆
with external feedback to any voltage,ranging from 0.6V to the input voltage.Yaq嘉泰姆
At dropout, the converter duty cycle increases to 100% and the output voltageYaq嘉泰姆
tracks the input voltage minus the Rdson drop of the high-side MOSFET.Yaq嘉泰姆
The internal error amplifier and compensation provides excellent transient response, load,Yaq嘉泰姆
and line regulation. Soft start function prevents input inrush current and outputYaq嘉泰姆
overshoot during start up.Yaq嘉泰姆
Inductor SelectionYaq嘉泰姆
For most designs, the CXSD61038 operates with inductors of 1μH to 4.7μH. Low inductanceYaq嘉泰姆
values are physically smaller but require faster switching, which results in some efficiency loss.Yaq嘉泰姆
The inductor value can be derived from the following equation:Yaq嘉泰姆

Where ∆I L is inductor Ripple Current. Large value inductors result in lower ripple current andYaq嘉泰姆
small value inductors result in high ripple current. For optimum voltage-positioning loadYaq嘉泰姆
transients, choose an inductor with DC series resistance in the 50mΩ to 150mΩ range.Yaq嘉泰姆
Input Capacitor SelectionYaq嘉泰姆
With the maximum load current at 1.5A, the maximum ripple current through input capacitorYaq嘉泰姆
is about 0.6Arms. A typical X7R or better grade ceramic capacitor with 6V rating and greaterYaq嘉泰姆
than 10uF capacitance can handle this ripple current well. To minimize the potential noiseYaq嘉泰姆
problem, place this ceramic capacitor really close to the IN andYaq嘉泰姆
GND pins. Care should be taken to minimizethe loop area formed by CIN, and IN/GND pins. Yaq嘉泰姆
Output Capacitor Selection Yaq嘉泰姆
The output capacitor is required to keep the output voltage ripple small and to ensureYaq嘉泰姆
regulation loop stability. The output capacitor must have low impedance at the switchingYaq嘉泰姆
frequency. Ceramic capacitors with X5R or X7R dielectrics are recommended due to their lowYaq嘉泰姆
ESR and high ripple current ratings. The outputripple VOUT is determined by:Yaq嘉泰姆
