    The CXSD61036 is high efficiency synchronous,PWM step-downIsg嘉泰姆
DC/DC converters working under an input voltageIsg嘉泰姆
range of 2.5V to 5.5V. This feature makes the CXSD61036 suitableIsg嘉泰姆
for single Li-lon battery-powered applications.100% duty cycleIsg嘉泰姆
capability extends battery life in portable devices, while the quiescentIsg嘉泰姆
current is 200 A with no load, and drops to < 1 A in shutdown.Isg嘉泰姆

INDUCTOR SELECTIONIsg嘉泰姆

For most applications, the value of the inductor will fall in the range of 1μH to 4.7μH. Its value isIsg嘉泰姆
chosen based on the desired ripple current. Large value inductors lower ripple current and smallIsg嘉泰姆
value inductors result in higher ripple currents. Higher VIN or VOUT also increases the rippleIsg嘉泰姆

current as shown in equation 1. A reasonable starting point for setting ripple current is

The DC current rating of the inductor should be at least equal to the maximum load current plusIsg嘉泰姆
half the ripple current to prevent core saturation. Thus, a 720mA rated inductor should beIsg嘉泰姆
enough for most applications (600mA + 120mA). For better efficiency, choose a low DC-resistanceIsg嘉泰姆

Different core materials and shapes will change the size/current and price/current relationship ofIsg嘉泰姆
an inductor. Toroid or shielded pot cores in ferrite or permalloy materials are small and don’tIsg嘉泰姆
radiate much energy, but generally cost more than powdered iron core inductors with similarIsg嘉泰姆
electrical characteristics. The choice of which style inductor to use often depends more on theIsg嘉泰姆

price vs size requirements and any radiated field/EMI requirements than on what the CXSD61036Isg嘉泰姆

requires to operate. Table 1 shows some typical surface mount inductors that work well inIsg嘉泰姆
