    The CXSD61036 is high efficiency synchronous,PWM step-downNs2嘉泰姆
DC/DC converters working under an input voltageNs2嘉泰姆
range of 2.5V to 5.5V. This feature makes the CXSD61036 suitableNs2嘉泰姆
for single Li-lon battery-powered applications.100% duty cycleNs2嘉泰姆
capability extends battery life in portable devices, while the quiescentNs2嘉泰姆
current is 200 A with no load, and drops to < 1 A in shutdown.Ns2嘉泰姆
       The internal synchronous switch is  desired to increase efficiencyNs2嘉泰姆
without an external Schottky diode. The 1.4 MHz fixed switchingNs2嘉泰姆
frequency allows the using of tiny,low profile inductors and ceramicNs2嘉泰姆

INDUCTOR SELECTIONNs2嘉泰姆

For most applications, the value of the inductor will fall in the range of 1μH to 4.7μH. Its value isNs2嘉泰姆
chosen based on the desired ripple current. Large value inductors lower ripple current and smallNs2嘉泰姆
value inductors result in higher ripple currents. Higher VIN or VOUT also increases the rippleNs2嘉泰姆

current as shown in equation 1. A reasonable starting point for setting ripple current is
IL =240mA (40% of 600mA).Ns2嘉泰姆
The DC current rating of the inductor should be at least equal to the maximum load current plusNs2嘉泰姆
half the ripple current to prevent core saturation. Thus, a 720mA rated inductor should beNs2嘉泰姆
enough for most applications (600mA + 120mA). For better efficiency, choose a low DC-resistanceNs2嘉泰姆
inductor.Ns2嘉泰姆
Different core materials and shapes will change the size/current and price/current relationship ofNs2嘉泰姆
an inductor. Toroid or shielded pot cores in ferrite or permalloy materials are small and don’tNs2嘉泰姆
radiate much energy, but generally cost more than powdered iron core inductors with similarNs2嘉泰姆
electrical characteristics. The choice of which style inductor to use often depends more on theNs2嘉泰姆

price vs size requirements and any radiated field/EMI requirements than on what the CXSD61036Ns2嘉泰姆

requires to operate. Table 1 shows some typical surface mount inductors that work well inNs2嘉泰姆
